The moon is currently in the last quarter phase as we approach the new moon, which lands on October 9th. If you time your spells according to the moon, you might be interested in some of the spells you can cast right now. The last quarter phase of the moon is part of the waning phase, but it is at a point in its journey that leaves it half illuminated and half darkened. The following post will outline some of the types of spells you can do during this brief — but important — moon phase.
Sometimes it’s healthy to get acquainted with our darker selves. The last quarter moon is an ideal time to delve in to some shadow work for whatever reasons you may have. Spells that aid you in embracing your inner darkness are ideal during this time since half the moon is hidden by the darkness of empty, black space.
Lending a helping hand to someone in need of healing light is always a good idea, but it’s an especially good idea during this moon phase. While half the moon is illuminated, your spells during this time can focus on the good, the beneficial and the charitable. With this being part of the waning phase, the positive intent of your spell should include the “pushing away” or “shrinking” of negative energy, bad luck, debt or illness.
You can’t have the good without the bad, and you can’t have the bad without the good. That is illustrated beautifully during the last quarter moon. Spells that call for compromise and justice are ideal during this time. This is also a good day to counter-act any negative spells with positive ones, and vice versa.
